Metropol spring exhibition

SEENEVAHETUS / MUSHROOM EXCHANGE

in Metropol Cabinet gallery

Opening on Saturday, April 9 2022 at 6 pm

Vana-Kalamaja 46, Tallinn

According to biologist Tõnu Ploompuu, this is the most mushroom-poor month of the year. In order to soften the resulting sorrows, we invite you to see the new exhibitions in gallery Metropol and prepare for the new mushroom season.

Mushrooms and everything related to them is a beloved theme in art and you can see a number of different responses to the mysterious and addictive call of the mushroom world in our galleries.

At the Metropol spring exhibition in Metropol Cabinet gallery artists will present the artworks, relics and figurative observations based on everyone's mushroom knowledge and experience. Participants and the audience can also ventilate their mushroom stocks by exchanging mushroom preserves and recipes with others

Exhibition is curated and designed by Triinu Jürves, special thanks to Kaarel Kütas and Taave Tuutma.

sealt sinna / Let's Take the Romantic Way @ ArtDepoo

sealt sinna / LET’S TAKE THE ROMANTIC WAY
Kaarel Kütas, Mikk Jäger, Cartier, Kersti Vallikivi-Ramos, Ahti Sepsivart, Villem Jahu, Triinu Jürves

ArtDepoo gallery, Tallinn, Estonia
September 4-26, 2021
Opening hours: Wednesday-Friday 12-6 pm, Saturday 12-4 pm and by appointment

The title of the exhibition is inspired by Cartier’s peculiar true story, where an unexperienced couple had to start making difficult business decisions every day and they always chose a longer way to go to the office. Just to see the bushes, hear the birds and be together.

The whole gallery space amounts a flowing installation that figuratively emphasizes the variability of any situation or context. Moving itself - between different states of mind and values - becomes important instead of the final solution. Like a dandelion that grows through asphalt. Experience shows that no journey can be taken for granted. It does not always run in one direction at a steady pace. In a moment chaos may become order, from black sphere convert into white cube, creation change to production. And again the other way around. But it is always possible to change the order of addables, position of view or the whole question.

The viewer is invited to interact with this machinery - anyone can join and change the installation or stand back and simply observe. However, the key to the machine is in everyone's own hands. Room for interpretation is open both on the level of abstract allusions and personal connections.

Behind the exhibition there is a similar long and complex work process, which can be described as an artistic dialogue between artists, places and good intentions. People, ideas and objects have moved several times between Tallinn and Manchester, sometimes stopping for a long time and then reacting quickly and changing shape.
The project brings together group of artists based in Estonia and United Kingdom, all of whom are involved in different aspects of artist run practices and initiatives. They act as a kind of links between different phenomena in the contemporary art field and incorporate their creative principles into other areas of life and existence. Inside the general installation you can find the individual project of each artist, which were born especially for the ArtDepoo exhibition and have now been left in the mercy of the situation.

You can keep up to date with the additional program and news of the exhibition via FB.
